Marcia Lea, MFA, Bed., B.A.

Director and Art Instructor

Marcia Lea is an Ottawa based artist, curator and art educator. Lea is a recent graduate of the University of Ottawa’s dynamic new Masters of Fine Arts program. She also holds a Bachelor of Education specializing in Visual Arts. Lea brings these talents and many years experience to her role as Director.

As an artist Marcia has gained recognition for her exhibitions of paintings in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. Her artwork is in numerous collections including, the Bank of Canada, City of Ottawa, Toronto Stock Exchange, and CIBC.

As a curator, Lea has recently completed a contract as Executive Director and Curator of the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant in southern Ontario. Lea is now working as an independent curator in Ottawa, most recently curating, Lights On!, an exhibition of paintings by Petra Halkes and writing a curatorial essay for Gail Bourgeois exhibition, To Warn Other Canadians, at the Diefenbunker: Canada’s Cold War Museum.

Since 1988, Lea has been teaching art with such organizations as the Ottawa School of Art, the Ottawa School Board, and the University of Ottawa. Lea brings a passion for both art and learning to the school and looks forward to sharing these experiences with the students
